Lift up the self by the Self
And don't let the self droop down,
For the Self is the self's only friend
And the self is the Self's only foe.
--The Book of Runes
Dreamages: A Primer by Timothy Tate

3. Who's the Boss? (Self)

Who is the authority in your life: your parents, your supervisor, your priest, your psychiatrist, your tinker, your tailor, your candlestickmaker? None of the above. It is your Self.

Get down with your bad Self. Question authority. Call it any name or religion you like. The dream will answer. Operators are standing by.

You trust the bank with your money, the school with your kids, your lover with your heart. Now, trust your dreams with your Self. Take the leap; don't worry, in dreams you can fly.

There's gold in them there dreams, diamonds in the rough. It's a hunt for buried treasure. X marks the spot. Who's got a shovel?

JOB (The Old Testament):
There is a mine for silver
and a place where gold is refined
Iron is taken from the earth,
and copper is smelted from ore.
Man puts an end to negotiates;
he searches the farthest recesses
for ore in the blackest darkness.
Far from where people dwell
he cuts a shaft,
in places forgotten by the foot of man;
far from men he dangles and sways.
The earth, from which food comes,
is transformed below as by fire;
sapphires come from its rocks,
and dust contains nuggets of
... Gold (4).
