This is one of my favorite dimensions of dreams.
I understand time to be a relative matter created by man to manage experience.
Dreams do not respond to our notion of time, are independent of it, and are able to see the whole picture, the one we only see partly.
So dream perception is able to see 'the future' since the future is only a mental construct and not an event waiting to happen.
This ability, if developed or devouted to, is the essence of prophecy, or in daily more ordinary terms, having dreams come true.
