When I have recurring water dreams, they usually tell me how well I'm relating to my unconscious. Or not. I always consider them a "message from the deep." A dream about watching the ocean through a glass wall, for example, tells me I'm aware of my unconscious, but don't want to actually make contact with it. Joyously swimming in the flooded yard of my childhood home might be telling me to let go and be like that child again, unafraid to dive into my unconscious.
