Yes, I would agree with your interpretation.
There are two books, not easy reads but most valuable, which explore the mythic dimensions of love for the other.
I would heartly recommended them in this order:
Amor and Psyche by Erich Neumann
MaidenKing by Robert Bly and Marion Woodman
Afterall, if we are to meet our soulmate all else must die including our idea of who our soulmate is.
It is only when we can recall all the arrows of our projections that we can meet our soulmate.
One hint, he is no where to be found.
