You may know this already but James Hillman does a fine job of tackling the content of your essay in his book The Dream and the Underworld.
I also know that there are three levels of reality: literal, psychological, and mythic. It is good to know the difference between the three.
Dreams can show us the difference, we call them copper, silver, and gold dreams.
But for know I trust you will continue to rant: we need those among us willing to rave, to shake their fist at the heavens.
We also can use those among us who dance their dream awake.
